Information on GCSE courses

English Language AQA 8700, two  examinations

English Literature AQA 8702, two examinations

Mathematics, 1MA1. Three exams, each worth 33.33%.

In year 10 some pupils are entered for Edexcel Level 1 Award for Proficiency in Number and Measure (ANM10). One exam.

In year 11 some pupils are entered for Edexcel Level 1 Award in Statistical Methods (AST10). One exam. 

R.E.  AQA (Route B) Catholic Christianity.
Paper 1 (50%): Catholic Christianity (1hr 45minutes)
Paper 2 (50%): Perspectives on Faith (1hr 45minutes)

Art & Design, Fine Art, AQA. Component 1, portfolio, 60%. Component 2: externally set assignment, 40%                                

Business Studies Edexcel. Two examinations (75%). One controlled assessment (25%)

Computer Science  OCR J276. Controlled assessment: 20%.  Examination: 80%

Drama OCR J316 (9-1)1 non-exam assessment ‘Devising Drama’ 30% of final grade. 2 exams: ‘Presenting and Performing Texts’ 30% of final grade (practical) and ‘Performance and Response’ 40% of final grade (Written exam).

GCSE Geography 3 Examinations. Unit 1 (Physical – 35%), Unit 2 (Human – 35%), Unit 3 (Fieldwork/Skills – 30%)

History AQA.  Paper one (50%): Conflict & Tension, 1918 - 1939; Germany, 1890 - 1945, Democracy and dictatorship. Paper two (50%): Health and the people, c1000 - present; Elizabethan England, c1568 - 1603. 

ICT Edexcel 2IT01. Controlled assessment: 60%.  Examination: 40%

Languages (French, Polish & Spanish). Listening: 25%, Reading: 25%, Writing: 25% (all exams, end of Y11) Speaking: 25% (Oral examination)

Music, Edexcel. Performing & Composing, coursework, 60%.  Appraising, exam, 40%

Sociology OCR. Three exam papers at the end of year 11

Sports Studies AQA 8582. 70 % theory paper. 30 % practical controlled assessment.

Design Technology:
Graphics, Resistant materials or Textiles, AQA. 40% Examination and 60% Controlled Assessment

Food Preparation & Nutrition, AQA. 50% Examination.  50% NEA (Non Exam Assessment)
