Kier construction workshop
Representatives from Kier Construction came in to work with students in years 10 and 11 to offer insight into the many opportunities available in the construction industry. Students found out about Kier itself and the graduate trainee and trainee management degree pathways at Sheffield Hallam University as well as the apprenticeships they offer.
Students listened attentively and actively engaged in role-play interviews designed to help students prepare for the world of work. They asked searching questions about architecture, design and build, site management, surveying, engineering and estimating.
The aim is to follow up this event with a trip to the Skills Show at the NEC Birmingham in November and further contact with our mentors at Kier.
We are really grateful to Lisa Denby and former student Jake Haywood for giving up their time and for providing such an informative, entertaining and relevant workshop for our students.
