‘ Don’t tell me you are finished. Ask me, is it excellent yet?’

This week we are including a quick and easy idea to begin the year promoting a growth mindset with your students. This quote can be displayed in classrooms or used to change the language in the classroom when it comes to completing work, so that students no longer feel that work is just something to get through, but instead see the wider picture of practice makes progress. For this to work students need to know what ‘excellent’ looks like and some may need support and scaffolding to achieve this. However, this ensures that all students are challenged and that anyone can improve if they try hard enough, and hopefully inspire students to raise their standard of work and try their very best.
